Playing its final match before the District Tournament,
the No. 3-ranked Cowley College volleyball team lost to a tough Hutchinson
squad Monday in Hutchinson.
Hutchinson, which is ranked No. 13 in the NJCAA Division I poll, won
the match by a score of 30-22, 30-25, 30-26.
“We did not play well at all the first game, but we played much better
the second and third game,” Cowley head coach Joanna Pryor said.
Pryor felt Hutchinson was one of the better teams the Lady Tigers have
played this year.
“Kishwaukee is probably the only team we will see at the national tournament
that is tougher than Hutchinson,” Pryor said.
Cowley is now 26-5 on the season. The Lady Tigers received a bye in the
first-round of the District M Tournament and will play the winner of
the Pratt versus Coffeyville match Saturday at 1 p.m. in Neosho. If Cowley
wins its first match on Saturday they will advance to the championship
match at 5 p.m.
