Crowder, Yankova named Honorable Mention All-Americans
 Having completed stellar sophomore seasons with the Cowley College men
and women’s basketball teams, Jack Crowder and Elena Yankova
were recently named Honorable Mention NJCAA Region VI All-Americans.
Crowder led the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division in scoring (20.6
points per game), while also averaging a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game.
He shot 56 percent from the floor and helped the Tigers capture their
second straight Jayhawk East title. Cowley finished the season with a
record of 29-5 overall and 15-3 in the conference.
Crowder’s 685 points scored during the 2008-09 season were the
sixth most in school history. He leaves Cowley as only the ninth person
to score more than 1,000 points in their career as he finished with 1,026
career points.
Yankova led Cowley in scoring at 16.8 points per game, while also averaging
3.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Yankova not only led the Lady
Tigers in scoring, she also led the team in assists (96) and free-throw
percentage (76 percent).
Yankova is the school’s third all-time leading scorer as she finished
her Lady Tiger career with 997 points. She helped Cowley finish this
past season with 24 wins and 45 victories over the past two years.
