Six Cowley College student-athletes named Academic All-Americans

, Kari Rinehart, Boomer Saia, and Sarah Smith

Maintaining excellence in the classroom while playing collegiate athletics, six Cowley College student-athletes were named 2008-09 National Junior College Athletic Association Academic All-Americans.

Five of the six student-athletes recognized posted grade point averages higher than 3.80 and earned Distinguished Academic All-American honors.

Lady Tiger softball player Sarah Smith, Kasha Kelly of the volleyball team, and Andy Petz (baseball) led the way with 4.0 GPAs. Women’s indoor track and field athlete Kari Rinehart (3.96) and men’s tennis player Boomer Saia (3.86) also earned Distinguished Academic All-American honors.

Lady Tiger softball pitcher Jacey Juden rounded out Cowley athletes earning Academic All-American status as she had a GPA of 3.74.
