TBC Blitz Drive exceeds expectations, raises close to $70,000
With Cowley College coaches, employees, and members of the community
donating their time to raise funds for the Tiger Booster Club, nearly
$70,000 was raised during the school’s annual TBC Blitz Drive
on Thursday.
According to Cowley College athletic director Tom Saia, this year’s
goal was to raise $59,000.
“This tells you Cowley County loves athletics and will continue to support
it,” Saia said. “It was a community effort, a lot of people were
involved.”
Cowley boasts one of the top junior college athletic programs in the
country. During the past year, Tiger athletic teams combined for 11 national
tournament appearances, seven conference championships, and five region
championships.
In addition, several Tiger athletes have been named to the 2008-2009
All-American and Academic All-American teams.
“This is a credit to our coaches and the kind of student-athletes they
bring in,” Saia said. “I also want to thank the people that help
support the Booster Club.”
The Tiger Booster Club has six levels of membership that range from $100
to $2,500. TBC members are admitted free to all Tiger sporting events.
The Cowley College athletic department will have its final fundraiser
on Aug. 8 as they will host the Tiger Skins/Brian Groves Memorial Golf
Tournament at the Arkansas City Country Club.
Anyone interested in registering for the tournament or becoming a Tiger
Booster Club member can contact the Cowley Athletic Department at 441-5589.
