Gillmore, Griffith competing at Tiger Heptathlon/Decathlon
Competing in beautiful weather, freshmen Mac Griffith and Katie Gillmore
represented Cowley College in the Tiger Heptathlon/Decathlon Wednesday
at the Tiger Track and Field Complex.
Each athlete in the women’s heptathlon competes in four events
on the first day and three events on the second day receiving points
for their performance, with the idea being to score the most points overall
in the seven events. The men’s decathlon is five events each day.
Gillmore is currently in fourth place out of nine competitors, while
Griffith is sixth out of 15 male athletes.
Today’s events for the men start at 9:30 a.m. and are 110-meter
high hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500-meter run.
Women’s events start at 10 a.m. and are long jump, javelin, and
800-meter run.
Women’s first day results competing in the 100-meter hurdles, high
jump, shot put and 200-meter dash.
