Lady Tiger soccer loses at NEO
Falling behind 4-0 at Northeastern Oklahoma College on Friday, the Cowley
College women’s soccer team dug itself a hole too big to climb
out of as they lost by a score of 5-2.
Cowley trailed just 1-0 at the end of the first half, but NEO blew the
game open by scoring three times in the first 6:27 of the second half.
“They were able to capitalize on the opportunities they created,” Cowley
head coach Roberto Dos Santos said. “By the time we started playing our
game it was too late.”
Carol Rodrigues scored both of the Lady Tigers’ goals in the defeat.
Amber Hernandez, who has scored 21 goals on the season, suffered an injury
in the first half and was not at full strength the remainder of the game.
“That was a huge setback for us,” Dos Santos said.
Freshman Katie Ybarra assisted on Rodrigues’ second goal. Cowley
is now 5-6 on the season. The Lady Tigers will look to avenge the defeat
when they host NEO Saturday at 2 p.m.
“We are looking forward to having the week to recover,” Dos Santos
said.
