Kaneesha Lee named March Student Athlete of the Month
Coming to Cowley College from Phoenix, AZ, Kaneesha Lee has worked hard
to do well in the classroom and on the basketball court. The sophomore’s
hard work has paid off as she was recently named the school’s
March Student Athlete of the Month.
Lee, who is majoring in pre-medicine, has a cumulative grade point average
of 3.15 at Cowley. After serving as a role player on last year’s
team, Lee has blossomed into a starter and one of the team’s most
prominent players.
Lee is averaging 10.1 points and 7.2 rebounds. Her 75 blocked shots is
tops in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division.
Cowley head coach Todd Clark is pleased with the progress Lee has made
during her two years at the school.
“She is leaps and bounds better than she was as a freshman,” Clark
said. “She has made tremendous strides in being a lot more coachable
than she was a year ago, and has really grown as a person.”
When presented a plaque by Clark for being named Cowley’s March
Student Athlete of the Month during the Tiger Booster Club Luncheon on
Tuesday, Lee thanked coach Clark and assistant coach Katrina Colwell
for helping make her a better player and person during her time at the
school.
“I would not be where I am today if it was not for them,” Lee
said.
