Cowley baseball appears in Perfect Game Cross Checker rankings
Perfect Game Cross Checker, a division of Perfect Game USA scouting service,
has the Cowley College baseball team ranked 27th in its list of the
Top-50 Junior College baseball teams.
The Tigers, winners of 13 of the past 15 Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division
titles, finished 48-15 overall and 29-7 in the Jayhawk East during the
2009 season. The Tigers also finished as Region VI champions and advanced
to the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, CO.
Cowley will open the 2010 season Feb. 9 at Seminole State at 2 p.m. Seminole
State is 41st in the Perfect Game Cross Checker rankings. The Tigers
will play its first home game on Feb., 16 when they take on Butler Community
College at 2 p.m.
Southern Nevada is ranked first in the pre-season poll, while defending
national champion Howard Community College is ranked fourth.

Scouting Report: Cowley County has been the signature junior college
program in Kansas since winning back-to-back Junior College World Series
crowns in 1997 and 1998. The Tigers will lean on holdover players like
sophomore left-handed pitcher Zach Cargill (8-1, 2.95 ERA), second
baseman B.J. Misialek (.369 average, nine home runs, 58 runs batted in)
and outfielder Ronnie Melendez (.367 average, 4 home runs, 38 RBI).
