Tiger tennis team powers their way to 9-0 win over Seward County
Returning to the court for the first time in 18 days, the No. 5-ranked
Cowley College men’s tennis team showed no signs of rust as they
dominated its match vs. Seward County Monday in Arkansas City.
Playing their first Region VI opponent of the season, the Tigers had
no trouble dispatching of Seward County by a score of 9-0.
“We had lots of great matches and were able to win several matches convincingly,” Cowley
head coach Josh Cobble said. “I hope this will help set the tone for
future region opponents.”
Cowley’s singles and doubles lineup did not drop a set and were
really only threatened in a couple of matches. After a 3-0 start by its
doubles teams, sophomore Lloyd Bruce-Burgess seemed to keep the team’s
intensity level up with his shouts of “Go Tigers” throughout
his 6-1, 6-3 win over Seward County’s Nathan Nelmes in No. 1 singles.
Cowley will now travel to Emporia to take on Emporia State University
and Washburn University this afternoon.
