Tiger men’s tennis comes up short against Washburn University
Despite being awarded two wins by default, the Cowley College men’s
tennis team was unable to win its match at NCAA Division II Washburn
University on Saturday as they lost by a score of 5-4.
“The team loss was disappointing,” Cowley head coach Josh Cobble
said. “With a 2-0 lead I thought we had a chance to steal the match.”
Cowley’s top two doubles teams played hard but came up a little
bit short in its bid for wins, while Lloyd Bruce-Burgess and Roger White
rallied for the Tigers’ lone wins in singles play.
“They both started slow and lost the first set but were able to regroup
and win the match,” Cobble said. “I was pretty impressed with those
two. But, overall we saw areas we need to improve on.”
Cowley, which is 1-1 in the fall, will play an exhibition match against
the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Wednesday in Tulsa, OK.
