Jokisch, Valcin hit national qualifying marks

With the outdoor track national championships set to begin Thursday, Cowley College freshmen Colin Jokisch and Rick Valcin hit national qualifying marks at the Tiger Last Chance Meet held Friday in Arkansas City.
Jokisch qualified for nationals in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by running a time of 9:49.89, while Valcin qualified for nationals in the pole vault (14-9).
With a limited number of athletes competing on Friday, Cowley sophomore Katie Gillmore continued to shine in the women’s pole vault as she cleared 12-5 ½ in the event.
The NJCAA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held Thursday through Saturday at Hutchinson’s Gowans Stadium.
