Silva named Jayhawk East Player of the Week
Playing two of the best games of her young career, Cowley College freshman
point guard Ariana Silva was recently named the Kansas Jayhawk Community
College Conference Women’s Basketball Eastern Division Player
of the Week as she helped lead Cowley to road wins over Independence
and Johnson County.
In last Wednesday’s 71-65 win at Independence, Silva recorded a
double-double scoring 11 points and dishing out a career high 10 assists.
In Saturday’s 64-57 overtime win at Johnson County, Silva led the
Lady Tigers in scoring with a career high 21 points, six of which came
in the overtime period.
For the week, Silva was 11-of-25 from the field and 7-of-17 shooting
from beyond the arc. She also handed out 13 assists.
Silva, who is from Franca, Brazil, is averaging 9.6 points, 4.2 assists
and 2.7 rebounds on the season.
