Lady Tiger tennis beats two ranked opponents, goes 3-1 at Seminole Invite
Showing they are deserving of its No. 6 ranking, the Cowley College women’s
tennis team went 3-1 at the Seminole (OK) Junior College Invitational
played Friday and Saturday in Seminole, OK.
On Friday, Cowley defeated a pair of ranked opponents in Collin County
Community College and Seminole Junior College. The Lady Tigers pulled
out a hard fought 5-4 win over No. 13-ranked Collin County, before easily
dispatching of No. 10-ranked Seminole by a score of 7-2.
Cowley would open play on Saturday with a dominating 9-0 win over Region
VI opponent Barton County, before suffering its lone defeat on the weekend
in a 8-1 loss to No. 2-ranked Tyler Junior College.
The Lady Tigers are now 10-5 on the season.
“We played some great teams and definitely had a big weekend,” Cowley
head coach Josh Cobble said. “Everyone had an opportunity to step up
and they each played pretty solid tennis.”
Cowley’s No. 1 doubles team of Adrijana Pavlovic and Jamie Blackim
led the way by going 4-0 on the weekend.
“They had a great weekend,” Cobble said. “Our doubles play
was a big factor in our wins, especially in the win against Collin County.”
The Lady Tigers will return to action on Wednesday when they host Friends
University at 2 p.m.
“The match with Friends will serve as a tune up before playing Johnson
County on Thursday,” Cobble said.
