Cowley forges partnership with USD 470
Working together, Cowley College and USD 470 recently came to an agreement to allow the Tiger tennis teams an opportunity to utilize the tennis courts at Arkansas City High School.
“Cowley College is extremely excited to partner with USD 470 whenever we can,” Cowley College interim president Tony Crouch said. “This tennis partnership will allow the college to play and practice on state-of-the-art courts and host home matches. We look forward to other opportunities we may explore in the near future.”
Dr. Ron Ballard, USD 470 superintendent, said the school board was very receptive of the idea and the district values its partnership with the college.
"USD 470 always welcomes the opportunity to partner with Cowley College and the district is excited to explore the possibility of sharing the high school's tennis facilities,” Dr. Ballard said. “We believe this type of partnership has the potential to be a great, fiscally responsible opportunity for both schools and for the community as a whole."
The Tiger men and women’s tennis teams achieved the highest Division I finishes in the history of the programs as they each placed fourth at the 2014 national tournaments.
Shane Larson, Cowley College athletic director, is looking forward to working with Arkansas City High School athletic director Aaron Bucher and the USD 470 school district.
“We are grateful that USD 470 is willing to work with us,” Larson said. “I hope this is the first step in a long partnership as we continue to develop other opportunities outside of tennis.”
