After spending the past two seasons as the assistant tennis coach at Cowley College, Charity Andrews was recently named the head coach of the Lady Tiger women’s tennis team.
Andrews replaces Josh Cobble, who left coaching the Tiger tennis teams to become Cowley College’s Executive Director of Enrollment Management.
“Josh has been a great mentor to me and I am glad he will still be around for me to ask questions to because he has such a great mind for tennis,” Andrews said.
Andrews was named the Region III ITA Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year and ITA Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year during the 2014 season.
During her first year at Cowley she helped the Tiger men capture the region title and place 10th nationally, while the Lady Tigers finished second in the region and 11th at the national tournament.
In year two, she helped both squads capture region titles and achieve the highest Division I finishes in the history of the programs as they each placed fourth at the national tournament.
Andrews has coached four All-Americans, five national semifinalists and a national finalist. She is excited about the team she has helped assemble for the 2014-15 school year.
“I think this team we have coming in can is one of the best since I have been here,” Andrews said. “We also have some good role models coming back, so I think we can be a top-three squad.”
