- Vehicle packets, keys, credit cards, etc. will be secured
from the Facilities/Transportation Clerk. These packets will be returned
to the Facilities/Transportation Clerk or dropped in the transportation
drop box, immediately upon return.
- College vehicles will be fully serviced during and on
return from a trip by the user, using self-service pumps where possible
with credit card purchases. Servicing includes: gas, oil, washing windows,
and tire pressure.
- Trip cards must be issued and turned in with packets
which will indicate mileage out and in and any mechanical deficiencies
noted.
- Students are not authorized to drive College owned vehicles.
- In case of an accident the driver will be responsible
to call the insurance company and report such accident. The name and
telephone number of the insurance company is in each packet. Upon return
to the College, the driver will make a written report to the Chief
Business Officer with details of the accident and action taken. The
driver is responsible for completing all required reports. All traffic
violations are the individual's responsibility.
- Employees involved in two accidents within an 18 month
period which involve damage to a College vehicle and results in the
use of College insurance or College funds to repair or replace the
damage, may be restricted from driving a College vehicle for a period
of one year. In lieu of driving a College vehicle, the employee will
be expected to drive a personal vehicle and be reimbursed only for
gas, turnpike fees, etc.
- College owned vehicles will be returned to the College
parking lot immediately on completion of a trip, fully serviced, with
the interior clean.
- Staff members who drive College vehicles who have more
than 15 passenger seating must have a CDL License issued by the State
of Kansas.
- High school and younger students/passengers must not
be transported in 15 passenger vans.
- 15 passenger vans are not to be rented or leased.
- Drivers of college vehicles must obey all traffic regulations.
Drivers of 15 passenger vans must not exceed 60mph.
- All passengers must wear seat belts at all times while
traveling.
- Driver must not drive a vehicle that is not operating
properly.
- Maximum seating capacity including driver is 9 for 15
passenger vans.
- All equipment and luggage must be secured in a safe
manner.
- All drivers of 15 passenger vans are to complete the
training course for driving vans provided by Employee Services.
- All drivers are to be employed by the College.
- Smoking and tobacco products are not to be used in any
college vehicle.
- No pets or animals are allowed in college vehicles unless
an approved service animal.
- Any exceptions to this policy shall require prior approval
by the Chief Business Officer.
- Failure to comply with Policy #153
may result in disciplinary action or termination.
