Accounting Instructor

Location: Mulvane /Arkansas City /Online

Job Summary:
Cowley College (Online/Mulvane/Arkansas City/ campuses) is seeking a part-time Accounting Instructor to teach Accounting. Responsible for preparing lesson plans and teaching students Accounting courses to include but not limited to Accounting with Quickbooks, Payroll, Financial and Managerial Accounting.

 

Required Education and Skills:

  • Master’s in Accounting with teaching experience at post-secondary level strongly preferred.  Master’s in related area with 18 graduate hours in Accounting acceptable as fully qualified.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Evidence of effective teaching experience in Accounting at the high school and/or collegiate level preferred

Adult Education Instructor

Location: Wellington, KS

Department: Adult Education

Position Reports To: Director of Adult Education

Status: Part-Time

Hours: Mon – Thursday: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm with additional hours for AO-K classes. (Sept. – Dec.)

Start Date: September 18, 2018

Job Summary:
The Adult Education Instructional Staff is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of curriculum that meets basic academic needs and workplace skills. Instructors are also responsible for direct instruction of the basic academic skills to all students enrolled in the program.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the development and facilitation of the Adult Education curriculum.
  • Adopt and follow the Adult Education Teacher Competencies.
  • Provide program orientation for new students.
  • Create a supportive learning environment in order to aid all learners in achieving success.
  • Coordinate with Adult Education instructors and area agencies.
  • Attend staff development meetings and conferences.
  • Create and complete professional development plans according to Kansas Adult Education policy.
  • Assist with the planning and participation of the GED graduation ceremony and reception.
  • Maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with employees, vendors, and/or any other representatives of external organizations.
  • Comply with all Cowley College policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Adult Education Director by performing other duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and work effectively within a team.
  • Strong English language skills (spelling, word usage, and meaning, etc.)
  • Firm understanding of basic technology (Windows and MS Office Products)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent human relation skills. Ability to work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Understanding of and commitment to AQIP.

 

Required Education Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
  • Master’s Degree, Preferred.

 

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in teaching or related field.

 

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; ability to move freely around the campus and outreach centers; ability to lift up to 20 pounds; ability to bend, stoop, reach, and grasp as required to perform responsibilities; ability to drive motor vehicle; and ability to work on the computer for long periods of time.

 

Work Environment:
Work performed in an office environment and classroom.

History Instructor

Job Summary:
Cowley College (Mulvane campus) is seeking a part-time History Instructor to teach History. Responsible for preparing lesson plans and teaching students about national, state, local, and global history. Performs critical analysis of historical events and figures and provides context for modern times.

Responsible for preparing lesson plans and teaching students about the field of social science called psychology, or the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context.

Medical Coding Instructor

Requirements:

Five (5) years of health care experience and a medical coding certification are required.

 

Adjunct Faculty

Location: Arkansas City Main Campus, Mulvane, Online

Cowley College is seeking adjunct Faculty members. Positions available at Mulvane, Arkansas City, and Online. 

 

Requirements: Master’s Degree with at least 18 hours of graduate level coursework within content area.  Experience with Higher Education teaching, online teaching, and an aptitude for the use of educational technology, preferred.

Adjunct Nurse Aide Instructor

Location: Winfield and Mulvane

According to state and federal standards, each course instructor must be a registered nurse with a current Kansas license and have a minimum of two years' licensed nursing experience. At least 1,750 hours must be as a licensed nurse in a setting which demonstrates long-term geriatric nursing care, such as an adult care home or a distinct-part long term care unit or a state institution for the mentally retarded. Additionally, all nurse aide instructors must have completed a course in teaching adults or a professional continuing education offering on supervision or adult education, or shall have experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse aides. To document alternative long-term care setting: “Alternative Practice Setting Experience” form is available upon request.

 

Adjunct Home Health Aide Instructor

Location: Winfield

According to state and federal standards, each instructor of a home health aide course must be a registered nurse with a current Kansas license and have direct work experience in the provision of home health care. In order to qualify as an approved instructor, the state requires that the candidate be a registered nurse with a minimum of two years’ licensed nursing experience. At least 1,750 hours must be as a licensed nurse in home health care services. To document alternative home health care setting: “Alternative Practice Setting Experience” form is available upon request.

 

Adjunct Medication Aide Instructor

Location: Winfield and Mulvane

Each instructor must be a registered nurse with a current Kansas license and have two years full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse.
