Mulvane Center gives back Big to their community
Mulvane Student Ambassadors served Sloppy Joe’s for lunch and dinner on February 7, 2012 to raise money for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Close to 100 sandwiches were served with chips and cookies.
The Ambassadors, along with students working on their Service Learning Project, got together to host a Bowl For Kid’s Sake event to raise money for Sumner County’s Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
This event will be held at Derby Bowl on March 10 from 4 – 6 p.m..
Although the City of Mulvane is located on the county line between Sumner and Sedgwick counties, a decision was recently made to allow Sumner County’s Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization to serve all of Mulvane.
With this decision made, several Student Ambassadors, along with Mulvane’s Advisor, Ali Ybarra, made a commitment to become a “Big in School” which means they spend 45 minutes to an hour once a week with their “Little” at school. Ali Ybarra talks about her experience as a “Big”, saying “It’s a rewarding experience. I look forward to meeting with my little once a week. I am glad I became a Big Sis.”
Our goal is to reach out to Mulvane and give back to the community in ways that will result in positive long term results.
