He was a 1995 graduate of Arkansas City High School, then enrolled at Cowley, where he was a member of the reinstated golf team in 1996. Later, he graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield.

An avid golfer, he was a member of the Arkansas City Country Club, and was manager of the East Madison Phillips 66 station owned by Mike Groves Oil.

A memorial has been established toward a golf scholarship to Cowley in Groves’ name. Contributions may be made by contacting the Endowment Association Office at the college, (620) 441-5237.

Mike and Judi Groves of Arkansas City recently established a scholarship to Cowley County Community College in memory of their son Brian. The $10,000 check will be added to the $4,800 already received to establish the Brian Groves Memorial Golf Scholarship.
