Men's Cross Country Team

The men’s cross country team had its reign at the top of the Jayhawk Conference come to an end as the Tigers finished second to Johnson County at the conference/Region VI Championships. Despite the efforts of Tim Marshall, who finished as the individual conference champion, earning first-team All-Region VI honors by placing third in the region with a time of 26 minutes, 47 seconds for the five-mile race, the Tigers finished 24 points behind Johnson County in the conference and placed fourth in the region. However, being led by Marshall’s eighth-place finish at the NJCAA National Championships, the Cowley men placed 12th out of 22 teams. Marshall earned Second-Team All-American honors for his performance. The sophomore from Jackson, Mich., ran the five miles in 25:23.

The Lady Tigers had four of their six runners run personal best times at the conference meet. However, even with those performances, Cowley managed no better than a third-place finish in the conference and a seventh-place finish in the region. The Cowley women did not compete as a team at nationals, but Lady Tiger freshmen Leslie Priskey and Katie Wagner competed as individuals. Priskey finished 100th out of 184 runners with a time of 21:39 in the 3.1-mile race, while Wagner placed 102nd with a time of 21:47.
