Students of the Month

December 2004
Whitney Jones, an Arkansas City native and the daughter of Gary and Wilma Jones, is December Student of the Month. “I was really excited because I really wanted it” (the award), Jones said. “It means a lot to me. It shows me that my hard work has paid off.” Jones, a communications major, had a busy fall semester. She played the role of Smitty in the musical “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.” She is vice president of the Act One Drama Club, and she was a finalist for Queen Alalah. She holds a 4.0 grade-point average.

January 2005
Travis Kliewer, a sophomore physical therapy major from Fairview, Okla., holds a 4.0 grade-point average and is January Student of the Month. The son of Clay and Tammy Kliewer is a pitcher on the Tiger baseball team. Besides being a member of the Tiger baseball team, he works for Academic Civil Engagement through Service, the college’s community service organization; is a member of Phi Theta Kappa; has been on the President’s Honor Roll and National Dean’s List; is a resident assistant in the Storbeck Dormitory; and was a finalist for Homecoming King.

February 2005
Bronze Hill, a sophomore theatre major from Arkansas City (Dexter High School), is February Student of the Month. Hill has been in both of Cowley’s major theatrical presentations this academic year, is a member of the Spirit Squad that performed at all home basketball games, and was crowned Homecoming King in February. Hill is the son of Bronze and Becky Hill of Arkansas City. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Act One Drama Club, the CC Singers, the Cowley Gospel Choir, and IMPACT. He also has an on-campus job in the Financial Aid Office.

March 2005
Amanda Hadicke, a sophomore biology major from Arkansas City, is the March Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Roy and Julie Hadicke. She has impressive credentials that include holding a 4.0 grade-point average, being listed on the President’s Honor Roll, being a member of the Math & Science Club, Phi Theta Kappa, Mu Alpha Theta, and the National Dean’s List. In February, she was one of two students who represented Cowley on the PTK All-Kansas Academic Team. She also serves on Cowley’s Natural Science Department Advisory Board.



April 2005
Whitney Smith is a sophomore pre-nursing major from Mulvane and the April Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Clark and Susan Smith. She is a member of Act One Drama Club, the Concert Choir, CC Singers, is a Student Ambassador, and is a resident assistant in the Kimmell Dormitory. She also played Rosemary in the fall musical and served as stage manager for the spring play. She also has been nominated for Outstanding Student of Arkansas City. She was fourth runnerup in the Miss Arkansas Valley Pageant in February.
