Stevens named Queen Alalah LXXVII
Hometown girl living the dream. Having attended Arkalalah since she was a child, Dori Stevens got the thrill of a lifetime as she was crowned Queen Alalah LXXVII during the coronation ceremony held Oct. 24 at Cowley’s Robert Brown Theatre.
Stevens, an Arkansas City native, is the daughter of Kevin and Rebecca Stevens.
The first runner-up was Blythe Colquhoun, another Ark City native. The other three candidates were Brianna Byers, Jacey Juden, and Darci Mann.
The coronation also had performances by Prairie Voice, Ark High Singers, and the singing of “Lydia” and “Home” by Ryan Smykil.
Marty Mutti served as the Master of Ceremonies and introduced the former queens and the visiting queens from surrounding towns in southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma. Mutti also announced that Donna Avery, Cowley College Board of Trustees Chair, is the 2008 grand marshal.
At Cowley, Stevens is involved in Phi Theta Kappa, Young Republicans, Act One, CCF, Cowley County Singers, and is a student ambassador. She also had a role in the fall musical.
