Cowley opens Westside Center in Wichita

Continuing to draw a large percentage of students from the north part of its service area and Sedgwick County, Cowley College opened a new center on the west side of Wichita on June 3.

The facility is known as the Cowley College Westside Center, and is located at 8821 West 21st Street, Suite 400. The building, which is 3,000 square feet, is on the southwest corner of Tyler and 21st Street.

The Westside Center has two employees on hand to help students enroll for online courses and provide financial aid information and information about courses offered at the Cowley College centers. They will also conduct Asset Testing and provide workshops based upon what the need in a certain area may be.

Cowley College president, Dr. Patrick J. McAtee, felt there was a need for the college to be visible on the west side of Wichita.

“We felt we needed to do a better job of communicating with that segment of our service area and reach out to those students interested in Cowley,” McAtee said. “Whether a student is wanting to take classes online or at one of our other locations, we can keep them informed on programs and services we offer.”

The college’s Eastside Center opened on the east side of Wichita last June and has online and hybrid course offerings. The Eastside Center is located at 4900 E. Pawnee, Suite 106.

With the opening of its Westside Center, Cowley College will have two locations in Wichita, two in Mulvane, and two in Winfield to go along with its main campus in Arkansas City.

“It will be interesting to track the contacts made from the Westside Center and see where those students ultimately end up at Cowley,” McAtee said.
