College collecting items to send to military personnel in Iraq
A student organization at Cowley County Community College wants to help U.S. military personnel have happier holidays.
The Academic Civil Engagement through Service organization, also known as ACES, has launched Operation Happy Holiday. The group is collecting various items to send to soldiers during the rest of this month and November. On Nov. 12, the group plans to box up all items and send them to Iraq.
Items soldiers have requested:
Ink pens, paper for writing, beef jerky, hard candy, overseas phone cards, paperback books, and dryer sheets.
Items should be dropped off during regular college hours to Galle-Johnson Hall or in the foyer of W.S. Scott Auditorium on the main campus. Collection boxes also are located at the Southside Education Center and the Aviation Tech Center, both in Wichita, and also at the Mulvane Center.
ACES also invites church or civic groups to make a donation.
