Faculty art show to be held at Cowley College
Cowley College will host a faculty art show titled "Using All Of Our Faculties", beginning Tuesday in the Brown Center's Wright Gallery.
The show will consist of artwork done by the art instructors in Arkansas
City and Winfield.
Cowley art instructor Mark Flickinger is looking forward to the event, which will run through Jan. 15. Flickinger will also have at least one of his paintings on display.
"This is a chance for people to come and see what kind of art is being produced in our community," Flickinger said. "A lot of art work is not shown in our community, so people don't always know what some of the people here in Ark City and Winfield can do. There will be a lot of good artwork on display."
Carol Morgan, who has served as Arkansas City High School's art instructor for the past 31 years, will have some of her watercolor pieces on display. She has recently had her work shown in the Kansas Water Color Great Eight at the Wichita Art Museum, at the Watercolor USA in Springfield, Mo., and has a piece still on display at the Northeast Watercolor Association in Connecticut.
"This will be nice for the people who only know us as teachers to see that we are really artists who teach," Morgan said.
Art instructors from Arkansas City that will have work on display are, Nancy Durham, Danice Sweet, Howard Levy, Carol Morgan, Denise Irwin, Mike Fell, and Mark Flickinger.
Art instructors from Winfield that will have work on display are, Marjorie Hall-Bicker, Lynn Felts, Anne Keller, Yvonne Richardson, Alisha Frazer, and Kate Mangold.
