Kansas Lt. Governor to honor Aviation Tech Center graduates
Kansas Lt. Governor John Moore will be the commencement speaker at two graduation ceremonies planned for Wednesday at Cowley College’s Aviation Tech Center in Wichita, located at 7603 East Pawnee.
The ceremonies are for graduates of the center’s A&P (Airframe and Power Plant) program. One ceremony will honor graduates of the day program and the second will honor students who attended night classes.
Day program graduation will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Aviation Tech Center. The night program graduation will begin at 3:30 p.m.
The Aviation Tech Center trains professionals in aircraft maintenance for the aviation and other industries.
“We are thrilled the Lt. Governor of Kansas will be here to support our students who have reached this milestone,” said Sheree Utash, Vice President of Student and Academic Affairs at Cowley College. “These graduates will help meet the critical need for A&P technicians in the manufacturing industries — particularly the aviation companies in our community.”
A total of 24 students will graduate from the FFA-approved program, with the majority working at local aviation manufacturers, she said. Students have the option of earning certificates or an associate’s degree.
The Lt. Governor, a former executive at Cessna Aircraft Company until he ran for public office, will address both groups in separate ceremonies.
