Aubrey Slief named Cowley Idol

Aubrey Slief named Cowley IdolPerforming in front of an audience of 300 people Wednesday night in the Robert Brown Theatre, Cowley College’s Aubrey Slief was the winner of the fifth annual Cowley Idol.

Slief was one of 12 contestants that competed for the coveted title of Cowley Idol. Kendra Dunagan finished second, while last year’s winner, Laura Durham, placed third.

All contestants received Cowley Idol t-shirts and the top three contestants were awarded trophies. By winning the contest, Slief will receive recording time in a professional studio. 

The band Sundown performed at the event as well as judged the contest.

Also, as part of  the Safe Spring Break festivities this week, the Cowley PAWS (Peers Advocating Wellness for Students) club sponsored the “Know The Facts” game, which was held between rounds.  

PAWS club members (Brandy Hallacy, Courtney Mason, and Katie Bevilacqua) selected students to come on stage and answer health related questions. Each question was worth $10 for a possible total of $100 for each contestant.  

Nathan Pope, Heather Davis and Karlee Fillip won $90 each and Sarita Stamps took home $100.

All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the Shanks Family/Jodi Sanderholm Memorial Scholarship fund.
