10th annual Great Cowley Duck Dash raises $16,000
Enjoying beautiful weather, great food and entertainment, more than 400
people attended the 10th annual Great Cowley Duck Dash held Saturday
at Cowley College’s McAtee Dining Center.
The event, which was planned to be held at Spring Hill Farms in Arkansas City, had to be moved to the Cowley College campus due to the excessive amount of rain that fell at the farm during the week.
“Even though we had to change locations for the Duck Dash the event was a great success,” Cowley Dean of Development and College Relations Terri Morrow said.
The evening featured a videotaped duck race and duck squat, and raised $16,000 for endowed scholarships. All totaled, the Great Cowley Duck Dash has raised $153,000 over the past 10 years.
“We want to thank all those who attended,” Morrow said.
JoLynne Stalnaker was awarded $1,075 as the winner of the duck race. Tom Schmidt was the winner of the duck squat and won $500. There were also 22 door prize winners at the event.
