Gackstatter’s composition, conducting featured


Gary Gackstatter, Cowley College’s director of instrumental music and conductor of the Winfield Regional Symphony, will have his music and conducting featured at the upcoming Wichita State University Band concert held Dec. 5 at Wichita State’s Fine Arts Auditorium.

Gackstatter will conduct the WSU Concert and Symphonic Bands with music by Vaughan Williams, Grainger and Paulson. His own work, "Alchemy" will be featured with the Concert Band.

Gackstatter also has done all-new symphony arrangements for John Gorka’s third performance with the Winfield Regional Symphony, which will be held Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Wichita’s Orpheum Theatre.

With 10 albums of original material to choose from, the concert will feature old favorites and songs from Gorka’s new CD,"Writing In the Margins".

Also featured at the concert will be Cowley students and faculty members Dave Bostwick, Chris Mayer and Mike Fell.

Tickets for the John Gorka concert with the Winfield Regional Symphony are available for $10 and $15 and can be purchased at the door or at Select-a-Seat. For more information, contact 620-441-5275.
