Cowley basketball teams to host Midnight Madness

With the excitement building for the 2006-07 Cowley College men’s and women’s basketball seasons, the college is offering fans a chance to get their first look at this year’s teams during the Cowley Crazies Midnight Madness Sept. 30 at W.S. Scott Auditorium/Dan Kahler Court.

The Madness will begin at 10 p.m. with the deejays from T-95 emceeing the event. Along with performances by the Tiger basketball teams, there will be performances by the Cowley dance and cheer squads.

The men’s team will hold a slam-dunk contest, while both the men and women’s teams will conduct three-point shooting contests. Those in attendance can purchase a $1 ticket for a chance to win $100 by making a half court shot.

There is no charge to attend the event. The first 300 fans will receive a free Coca Cola product and a box of popcorn.

Following the event the Cowley men’s basketball team will scrimmage at midnight.

“This will give fans and members of the community a chance to get a first look at the basketball teams on the eve of when practices begin,” Cowley men’s head coach Brian Jackson said. “It will be good for our kids to get a chance to mingle with fellow students and members of the community. There are a lot of different people involved with making the basketball programs a success. The cheer and dance teams play a big part in that. It should be a special evening.”
