Cowley AEC team does well at preliminary tournament
Competing at the AEC preliminary tournament held
at Neosho County Community College, the Cowley College Academic Excellence
Challenge team went 3-2 in the round robin tournament.
Elizabeth Smith, Aaron Gill, and Richard Gould competed for Cowley, while team member Brad Ingram was unable to attend the meet.
The team defeated students from Allen County, Johnson County, and Kansas City, while coming up just short against Coffeyville and Neosho County.
Gill scored an average of 58 points per round, which was second among the individual competitors. Gould finished in sixth place individually.
The Cowley College AEC team will compete again on March 29 in Hutchinson for regional competition and April 25-26 for state competition in Colby.
