Audience enjoys "A Night of Scenes"


"A Night of Scenes"Turning the Robert Brown Theatre stage into a small black box type theatre, Cowley College students took part in “A Night of Scenes” in front of a capacity crowd on Tuesday.

Roughly 100 people in attendance were treated to 100 percent student produced and directed scenes.

“It was an excellent learning experience for our student actors to experience what directing is like, and for our technical students to experience what it is like to be an actor,” theatre director Scott MacLaughlin said.

Act I featured “Mere Mortals” by David Ives. The scene was directed by Thomas Govert and the cast was made up of Brandon Cheney, Michael Holtke, Andy Rouse, and Jarrod Alley.

Also in Act I, “For Whom the Southern Bell Tolls” by Christopher Durang was directed by Zach Winter. The cast included Anna Stevens, Tyler Robbins, Nick Hammel, and Sabrina McKinney.

Act II featured ‘Linked”, which was written and directed by Kate Kearns. The cast consisted of Lynlea Bartlett, John David McDonald, Bethany Schmidt, and Billy Elliott.

Also featured in Act II was “Hidden In This Picture” by Aaron Sorkin. The scene was directed by Rachele Bloyer. Actors were Jesse Davis, Tristan Wall, Sean Rethmeier, and Lacey Bauman.

“I am proud of the work our students put into it,” MacLaughlin said.
