CC Singers perform in Denver
Getting an opportunity to perform at the Chair Academy
Leadership Conference in Denver, Colo. last Thursday, Cowley College’s
CC Singers gave an inspired performance.
After the group had completed its set, the crowd rose to its feet to give the CC Singers a standing ovation. In turn, they treated the crowd to an encore performance.
“We had such a great response from the crowd, they made us feel like we were rock stars,” vocal music director Connie Donatelli said.
Donatelli was quick to credit theatre director Scott MacLaughlin for his work with the sound, director of music theory Steve Butler, who played the piano, and Cowley student Andy Rouse, who helped with the technical side of the performance.
“We could not have done the caliber of show we did without those guys,” Donatelli said.
She also praised the work done by Cowley band students Eric Fraley, who played drums, and Dan Hasenbank, who played bass during the performance.
“They stepped in and did a fantastic job,” Donatelli said.
Most of all, she was proud of the performance by her students.
“My students were stellar,” Donatelli said. “They had a fantastic experience.”
On the way to Denver, the CC Singers made a stop at Scott City High School to give a performance. They also performed at Hays High School on their way back to Arkansas City on Friday.
The Jazz Band/CC Singers Concert is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. April 29 in the Robert Brown Theatre. There is no cost to attend the event.
