Social Science instructor receives Sitrnaman Award
Todd Shepherd, instructor/chair of Cowley College’s Social Science
Department, became the sixth recipient of the Paul Stirnaman Memorial
Award for Teaching Excellence.
Shepherd received the award during the All-College In-Service held Thursday in the Earle N. Wright Community Room.
The award is named for Paul Stirnaman, a long-time Social Science Department instructor and strong supporter of the College Education Association. He died June 16, 2000, following a lengthy illness.
Shepherd, who has worked at Cowley since 1999, was honored to receive the award.
“This means a lot to me because I know there are a lot of quality instructors here,” Shepherd said. “I want to thank my department as well as my wife and son. I could not do what I do without their support.”
Besides serving as department chair, Shepherd also teaches Economics, Algebra, and Astronomy courses. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts degree in economics from the University of Missouri. In 2002, Shepherd received the NISOD Master Teacher Award.
