Creative Claws holds Open Mic Nightopen mic

With 10 presenters, 21 original works, and over 40 in attendance, Cowley College’s Creative Claws Club held its first Open Mic Night of the school year Tuesday night at Brown’s in Arkansas City.

Marlys Cervantes, faculty advisor for the club, appreciates Brown’s support.
“We need to give a big thanks to Brown’s, to Kim, Troy and Andy, for being such great community partners with the College,” Cervantes said. “They provide the perfect venue for this type of event.”

Prior to the readings, Cervantes told the crowd of the expansion to the creative writing program at Cowley, and Kim Bryant, club president, announced that meetings are the last Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m.

Open Mic Nights next semester will be held Feb. 28 and April 10. Students interested in the club, the creative writing program, or Open Mic Nights should contact Cervantes in the Humanities Department.
