Multicultural Scholars Group attends banquet in Lawrence

Multicultural Scholars GroupCowley College’s Multicultural Scholars Group attended a banquet in Lawrence earlier this month.

Co-directors Marlys Cervantes and Amy McWhirt said the scholars were invited to join the MSP students from each of KU’s departments at a banquet where Reggie Robinson, CEO and President of the Kansas Board of Regents, addressed the group, encouraging them to look for challenging opportunities to lead.

“Robinson is an excellent speaker,” Cervantes said. “It was the perfect message after a day visiting KU’s campus and thinking about their opportunities following Cowley.”

After the banquet, the group went to a jazz concert by New York City’s Metta Quintet entitled “Stolen Moments: The First 100 Years of Jazz” which was held at KU’s Lied Center.
