Cowley's Golden Tigers to hold spring enrollment

 

Spring enrollment for classes in the Golden Tigers at Cowley College is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 in the Earle N. Wright Community Room inside the Brown Center at Cowley.

The Golden Tigers is for women and men age 50 and over. There is a $5 registration fee and a fee of $2 per class. Fees for classes and trips are due at the time of enrollment. Some classes have additional costs or supplies needed.

Persons planning to attend enrollment from 1-4 p.m. Jan. 27 should bring mailing labels to use on their enrollment forms and sign-up sheets. This saves writing your name repeatedly and speeds up the enrollment process. Enrollment by telephone or mail will be accepted after Jan. 27.

The Golden Tigers also have four educational trips planned in the spring.

Here is a list of trips offered in the spring:

  • Thursday, March 26 – Wichita/Cheney, Kan. This will be a fun outing with a morning stop and lunch in Wichita. The afternoon will be spent at the Eagle Valley Raptor Center in Cheney. The rescue center allows up close viewing of owls, hawks and eagles. Depart at 8:30 a.m. and return by 6 p.m.. Cost is $20 plus lunch.
  • Wednesday, April 8 – Pawhuska, Okla. This trip will start at the Cathedral of the Osage, which is over 100 years old and has beautiful stain glass windows. After lunch there will be a tour of the Constantine Theatre and a video on the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. There will also be stops at the Osage National Tribal Museum and the Osage County Historical Museum. The bus will depart at 7:30 a.m. and return by 6:30 p.m. Cost is $40, and lunch is included.
  • Tuesday, April 28 – Mystery Trip. Travel to an unknown destination and visit a variety of unknown locations. Plan to leave at 7:30 a.m. and return around 7 p.m. Cost is $45 (includes lunch).
  • Thursday, May 21 – Wichita, Kan. The group’s last trip will be to the Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre. After a buffet lunch, participants will enjoy an entertaining musical “Smoke on the Mountain”. Depart at 10 a.m. and return by 5 p.m.. Cost is $40, and lunch is included.
    The annual spring luncheon is planned for 12:30 p.m. May 7 in the Wright Community Room. Cost for the lunch is $8.
