Finalists for Cowley Homecoming royalty announced

 

Five women and five men have been chosen as finalists for Homecoming queen and king at Cowley College.

Voting for queen and king is being held online at www.cowley.edu. Crowning of this year’s queen and king will take place at halftime of the men’s basketball game vs. Labette on Feb. 11. The men’s game begins at 7:30 p.m. The Homecoming dance will follow from 9 -11:30 p.m. in the Cowley Recreation Building.

Queen finalists and their activities at Cowley:

  • Blythe Colquhoun, Student Ambassador, Cowley Captain, Phi Theta Kappa Vice President of Leadership, Math and Science Club Vice President, work study for the Cowley Bookstore.
  • Lauren McGuigan, CCF, Student Ambassador, Cowley College Republicans Public Relations Coordinator, Cowley Crew, Phi Theta Kappa Vice President of Service.
  • Amy Slane, women’s basketball manager, PAWS, Student Ambassador.
  • Anna Stevens, Concert Choir, CC Singers, Phi Theta Kappa, Act One, CCF.
  • Dori Stevens, Act One, CC Singers, Phi Theta Kappa, Cowley College Republicans, Concert Choir, CCF, College Bible Study.

 Following are brief biographies on each of the candidates in alphabetical order:

Queen candidates:

  • Blythe Colquhoun of Arkansas City is the daughter of David and Dawn Colquhoun. She is majoring in early childhood development. She plans to transfer to Southwestern College.
  • Lauren McGuigan of Arkansas City is the daughter of Mark and Kelly McGuigan. She is majoring in speech-language pathology. She plans to transfer to Wichita State University.
  • Amy Slane of Chanute is the daughter of Steve and Tamara Slane. She hopes to attend a dental hygiene program in the fall.
  • Anna Stevens of Arkansas City is the daughter of Kevin and Rebecca Stevens. She is majoring in music education. She plans to transfer to Southwestern College.
  • Dori Stevens of Arkansas City is the daughter of Kevin and Rebecca Stevens. She is majoring in elementary education. She plans to transfer to either Washburn or Wichita State University.

King candidates:

  • Thomas Govert of Arkansas City is the son of Tom and Julie Thimesch. He plans to major in secondary education and transfer to a four-year school.
  • Chris Loftin of Sedan is the son of Carmen Lyn Loftin. He is majoring in music education and plans to transfer to Pittsburg State University.
  • Willy Lucero of Mayetta is the son of Jim and Kathy Lucero. He plans to transfer to a four-year school to continue competing in track and field and major in kinesiology.
  • Andy Petz of Lawrence is the son of Tom and Susan Petz. He plans to transfer to a four-year school to continue playing baseball and earn an engineering degree.
  • John Windle of Garnett is the son of Frank and Darlene Windle. He plans to major in communications and transfer to Emporia State University.
