Audience treated to another outstanding spring play

With the dedicated work of Theatre director Scott MacLaughlin and technical director Jamison Rhoads, you can pretty well guarantee that Cowley College’s annual spring play will be a success.

This year was no different as the school performed three nights of “You Can't Take It with You”, a Pulitzer Prize-winning comedic play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart.

The play, which featured an outstanding set, had the audience laughing while delivering a powerful message.

“I thought it went really well,” MacLaughlin said. “Something magical happens the last couple of days before the show as all the hard work starts to pay off.”

The original production of the play opened in 1936. The play was the basis for the 1938 Academy Award winning film directed by Frank Capra.

There were 17 cast members in the show and MacLaughlin could not have been more proud of the work done by the students.

“We had the best group of students, they bought into what we wanted to do,” MacLaughlin said.
