Cowley music students awarded scholarships

Four Cowley College music majors recently auditioned and received an Arkansas City Music and Dramatics Club Scholarship worth $300 for the 2008-09 academic year.

Connie Donatelli, Cowley College vocal music director, recommended the students audition for the scholarships. The recipients of the scholarships are, Jessica Latham, Anna Stevens, Derek Vaden, and Nicole Hoerschgen.

“We are fortunate for our students to have this kind of support,” Donatelli said. “They are four of our standout students. They take what they do seriously and are passionate about music.”

The students must maintain a certain grade point average and study privately on voice or instrument. They must also be in a performing group.

Stevens and Hoerschgen are members of the Cowley Concert Choir and Cowley County Singers, while Latham is a member of the Cowley Concert Choir. Vaden is a member of the Cowley Jazz Band.

The students will perform at the Arkansas City Music and Dramatics Club meeting in the spring.
