Still time to register for Medical Careers Day
Wanting to learn more about medical programs and degrees offered by Cowley
College, then register to attend the school’s Medical Careers
Day Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the Allied Health Center in Winfield. There
is no cost to attend the event.
“This is an excellent opportunity for students to explore our Allied
Health Department and talk to people in that field,” said Chris Cannon,
Allied Health Department Chair/director of EMS Education. “It will give
students a glance into the profession so they can see if it is a good fit for
them even before they start their schooling.”
A healthcare and medical careers information meeting will be held at
7 p.m. Oct. 29 at Cowley College’s Earle N. Wright Community Room
on the Arkansas City campus. The meeting will provide an overview of
the Allied Health and Pre-Professional programs Cowley has to offer.
The Medical Careers Day will consist of information regarding the programs
and degrees offered by Cowley as well as a tour of the facilities. Participants
will also have an opportunity to visit with representatives from
South Central Regional Medical Center, William Newton Memorial Hospital,
Ark City Fire Department, Winfield Fire Department, Ark City Emergency
Medical Services, Winfield Emergency Medical Services, and Life-Team
fly-in.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with check in starting at 9:15
a.m.

The information meeting on Oct. 29 will also consist of a graduate roundtable,
and a advisor question and answer session.
From medical office support to pre-professional medical programs, Cowley
College offers a range of degrees and programs, including:
- Allied Health programs: Paramedic, EMT-Basic, Medical Office, Medical
Transcription, Medical Coding, CAN/CMA, RN/LPN, Long Term Care Administration,
Health Services Management, Sports Medicine and Leadership.
- Pre-Professional programs: Chiropractic, Dentistry, Forensics, Medicine, Mortuary Science, Nursing/Dental Hygiene, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and Veterinary Medicine.
