Cowley to host Battle of the Bands on Nov. 14
Let the battle begin. After a two-year hiatus, Cowley College is eager
to host another Battle of the Bands.
The contest, which will feature 13 bands, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 in the Brown Theatre. The cost to attend is $5 or $3 with a Cowley ID.
Each band will get the opportunity to perform three songs and will be judged on overall sound, song selection, and crowd reaction.
With an entry fee of $10, the audience favorite will be awarded $130. The actual winner, chosen by judges Shayla McDonald, Cowley College director of admissions, Neal Rosenquist (from Uptown Studios), and Bill Kropec (Willoughby Music), will receive four hours of recording time in Uptown Studios.
Cowley students Emily Crain and Dan Hasenbank have been instrumental in making the Battle of the Bands a reality. The event will be used as a fundraiser to help the Cowley College student ambassador’s with their trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
McDonald is looking forward to the event.
“It will be a good opportunity to showcase local talent and a fun thing to do on a Friday night,” McDonald said.
