McCutcheon entertains crowd with songs and stories

John McCutcheonGrammy nominated performer John McCutcheon entertained his fans with a special performance Monday night in Cowley College’s Robert Brown Theatre.

McCutcheon, who has made 31 albums and has received six Grammy nominations, performed some of his classics as well as songs from his new album “Sermon on the Mound”, which speaks of his love for baseball.

McCutcheon tells stories of ordinary people in his songs with the hopes his audience can recognize themselves in his music.

He has written acclaimed children’s books, published songbook compilations, and recorded spoken-word albums. He will be performing for grade school and middle school students today at the Winfield Middle School.

The presentation in the Robert Brown Theatre was supported by Mid-America Arts Alliance, Home National Bank, and the Arts at Cowley, with generous underwriting by the National Endowment for the Arts, Kansas Arts Commission, and foundations, corporations and individuals throughout Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
