Cowley College Singers, Jazz Band to perform Thursday
Taking the stage for their first performances of the school year, the
Cowley College Singers and Jazz Band will conduct a concert Thursday
in Cowley College’s Robert Brown Theatre. There is no cost to
attend the concert.
The Cowley College Singers will present “An American Salute”,
a medley of patriotic tunes in honor of the men and women who have served
and are serving our country.
Connie Donatelli, director of the Cowley College Singers, has just three
returning members of the Cowley College Singers to go along with 11 newcomers.
“It’s pretty much a brand new group,” Donatelli said. “The
kids have really stepped up to the plate and are doing really good.”
The Jazz Band will perform five pieces primarily made up of swing music.
Like the Cowley College Singers, the Jazz Band has several new members.
Jazz Band director Josh Fleig is looking forward to the concert.
“Jazz music is heavy in improvisation, so it is always fun to play this
style of music,” Fleig said.
Members of the Cowley College Singers are, Edna Anderson, Erin Burroughs,
Kelsey Ford, Nicole Hoerschgen, Robert Hutson, Jessica Latham, Chris
Loftin, Shawn Ming, JD Roudybush, Anna Stevens, Dori Stevens, Ian Sutton,
James Wearing, and Mitchell Wright.
Steve Butler will serve as the assistant director/accompanist, while
Jennifer Blatchford is handling the choreography. Rose Ann Riley of Riley’s
Originals designed performance wear.
Members of the Jazz Band are, Lindsay Newman, Robert Hutson, Angel Chavez,
Richard Gould, Kristen Tennyson, Matt Nelson, Kevin High, Baron Meeks,
Mitch Wright, Mikayla Chiles, Tiffany Wright, Chris Loftin, Myka Wiebe,
Rich Abrams, Ben Byers, Jeremiah Johnson, Derek Vaden, Dan Hasenbank,
and Robert Williams.
