The Human Relations Commission of Arkansas city is excited to announce
the 2010 Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration of Unity which will be held
in Cowley College’s Robert Brown Theatre on Sunday, January 17
at 4 p.m.
There will be a wide array of entertainment including the Arkansas City Middle School Choir students and the Cowley College STEP Crew. Students from Jefferson and Roosevelt elementary will also be singing.
The guest speaker this year is Reuben D. Eckels, Pastor of the New Day Christian Church, who is a leader in working with at-risk youth in Wichita. Mr. Eckels is the creator of the “Wichita Man” comic book which features a superhero who deals with social problems like domestic violence and gang issues. These popular books have been a hit with the youth in Wichita.
