Students presented healthy lifestyle choices during 101 Day
Hoping to help students think about making responsible decisions over
Spring Break, Cowley College’s Peers Advocating Wellness for
Students (PAWS) organization conducted “101 Day, featuring 101
ways to stay safe over Spring Break.
The event, which consisted of games, prizes, and information, was held Wednesday in the McAtee Dining Center and provided students with healthy lifestyle choices.
“Every year we do some sort of event before Spring Break to be proactive and make the students think before taking part in any risky behavior,” Sue Saia, vice president of student affairs and sponsor of PAWS said.
The information consisted of safety tips, nutrition tips, and ways to manage stress.
The event seemed to be an overwhelming success as more than 150 students signed the pledge wall, promising to be responsible over Spring Break, March 15-19.
The next event PAWS has planned is the Cowley Smokeout on April 22.
Along with Saia, director of student life Kristi Shaw, PAWS president Katie Gillmore, and vice president Jamie Blackim, helped organize “101 Day”.
