High School juniors treated to entertaining day at Cowley
Close to 100 high school juniors took part in Cowley College’s
Junior Day Wednesday at its main campus in Arkansas City. The students
came from high schools in Kansas and Oklahoma.
“The purpose of the day is for high school juniors to get to experience
how fun Cowley can be,” Cowley College executive director of enrollment
and outreach services, Ben Schears said. “This serves as a good lead
in for when the students come back in the fall for Senior Day.”
The day began with introductions and information about the college. Members
of the Tigerette Danceline then performed a dance routine.
Following the entertainment, the students then had an opportunity to
tour the campus and stop by the Earle N. Wright Community Room for free
pizza and soda.
The high school juniors and Cowley College student ambassadors then headed
to the college’s Recreation Building for a Dodgeball Tournament
to cap the day.
“The day was outstanding and was a lot of fun,” Schears said. “The
admissions staff did a really good job of getting things organized.”
