CC Singers return from enjoyable spring tour
Taking advantage of its opportunity to perform at a pair of high schools
and also take in a couple of stage shows, the Cowley College Singers
recently returned from a memorable spring tour.
“This year’s group was such a joy to travel with, they all have such a good vibe and go full throttle when they perform,” Cowley College vocal music director Connie Donatelli said.
The CC Singers performed in Salina on Thursday, with high school students from Salina Central and Salina Sacred Heart in attendance.
Following the performance, the group then headed to Kansas State University to tour the school’s Music and Theatre Departments, which included a theatre production of “Our Town”.
“The stage play was fantastic,” Donatelli said.
On Friday, the CC Singers performed at Rock Creek High School in Westmoreland.
“That was the highlight for the kids,” Donatelli said. “They were so receptive and their instructor was so glad we came.”
Cowley College theatre director Scott MacLaughlin and Cowley student Clinton Haas worked the sound engineering, while dance instructor Jennifer Blatchford provided the choreography for the performances.
The tour concluded with members of the CC Singers visiting the historic Orpheum Theatre in Omaha, NE. to see a Broadway touring company’s production of Legally Blonde.
“The trip was just like they perform, a lot of fun,” Donatelli said.
