Arnce named new campus photographer at Cowley
Get ready to see Morgan Arnce around Cowley College’s Arkansas
City campus as the senior from Derby High School was recently selected as the
school’s new campus photographer, a position that offers a full-ride
A committee, comprised of Meg Smith, Director of Journalism, Diana Dicken, Director of Web Services, and Janet Kennedy, Assistant Web Master, selected Morgan based on her talent as a photographer, her knowledge of photo manipulation software, her leadership skills, love of sports, and her charismatic personality.
“This kid has a stellar personality and it will not be long before everyone on campus will know Morgan,” Smith said. “She is a really great student and we are looking forward to working with her on campus.”
The campus photographer takes photographs that are used for Cowley College web sites, photo galleries, brochures, posters, flyers, press releases, and other media. Arnce’s assignments will include taking photos of sporting events, major performances, campus activities, and academic achievements.
“We are excited to have Morgan on our team,” Dicken said. “The campus photographer plays a significant role in promoting the campus-life experience at Cowley College. Theresa Zirkel, who served as campus photographer for the last two years, was also a Derby High School graduate and a student of Craig Godderz, photography instructor.“ “He is the reason I am still involved in photography,” Arnce said.
While in high school Morgan was active in the swim and dive club and served as a cheerleader for four years. She also was a member at large for the Panther Pac and was the Public Relations Chair for Operation Holiday Derby.
She demonstrated her leadership abilities through her involvement in community events and the Girl Scouts of America. Morgan received the Girl Scout Gold Award in 2009, the highest honor a member can receive.
Arnce, who will graduate from Derby High School on May 23, is the daughter of Lesley and Tim Arnce of Derby.
The opportunity to serve as Cowley College’s campus photographer excites Arnce.
“I had been bouncing back and forth on what I wanted to do so this helped me make up my mind,” Arnce said. “This is an awesome opportunity for me. I love taking pictures and capturing the moment.”
