Cowley awards scholarships

 

The Student Services Department at Cowley College has awarded scholarships to the following students for the 2009-10 academic year.

  • From Arkansas City High School: Joseph Kendrick, son of Eddie Joe Kendrick and Mary Folla, is the recipient of a Creative Writing Scholarship. At ACHS, he was involved in forensics. He plans to major in education.
    Jessica Coldwell, daughter of Mark and Julie Caldwell, is the recipient of a Martha Brandenburg Music Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in musicals and plays, Drama Club, symphonic choir, Ark Highs, orchestra, jazz band and FCA. She plans to major in music education.
  • Home School (Arkansas City): Kaleigh Richardson, daughter of Scott and Shelly Richardson, is the recipient of a Humanities Department Scholarship. During high school she participated in basketball, yearbook, and piano and art contests. She plans to major in journalism.
  • From Winfield High School: Briar Lewandowski, son of Trux Anglemyer and Miranda Lewandowski, is the recipient of a Craig Newman Scholarship. At Winfield, he was involved in golf and powerlifting. He plans to major in pre-pharmacy.
  • From Central-Burden High School: Bionca Beamer, daughter of Cindy Beamer, is the recipient of a E.A. Funk Scholarship. At Central-Burden, she participated in cross country, volleyball, basketball, flag team, Letterman’s Club, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, National Society of High School Scholars, FCA, and the National Honor Society. She plans to major in early elementary education.
  • Wichita Southeast High School: Bianca Ward, daughter of Shondi Romero, is the recipient of a Danceline Scholarship. She is undecided on a major.
  • Clearwater High School: Sheena Youngers, daughter of Stan and Jeana Youngers, is the recipient of a Craig Nelson Scholarship. At Clearwater, she was involved in cross country, softball, dance, C-Club, SADD, and KAYS. She plans to major in general arts.
  • Newton High School: Joshua Scheuermann, son of Randy and Vicki Scheuermann, is the recipient of a Craig Newman Scholarship. At Newton, he participated in swim, baseball, German Club, theatre productions, and was the Railerman mascot. He plans to major in criminal justice.
  • Medicine Lodge: Mitch Totty, son of Paul and Jacque Totty, is the recipient of a Robert Brown Memorial Scholarship. At Medicine Lodge, he was involved in track, cross country, basketball, football, baseball, and FFA. He plans to major in secondary education.
  • Sam Houston (TX) High School: Maria Mancha, daughter of Reyna Tovar, is the recipient of a Robert Brown Memorial Scholarship. At Sam Houston, she was involved with the March of Dimes and the Business Professionals of America. She is undecided on a major.
